Making the Most of Wedding Blogs

When I first entered the wedding floral scene in I was enthralled with the number of wedding blogs out there and the different style inspiration each offered. As time has gone on and the whole foraged, boho/romantic style being the trend for the last three years, I find that everything looks the same and is becoming so common that it really is not inspirational….trendy yes…unique no. Bouquets heavy on foraged greens with a peony, garden rose or dinner plate dahlia showcased in the front, staged invitations with raw silk ribbon “whimsically” placed in the grouping and backdrops of vines with a naked cake in the front have graced at least 90% of wedding blogs for quite some time. Please don’t misunderstand me …I LOVE this gorgeous style and am over the moon when I see the excitement in my brides’ eyes when she sees her foraged bouquet for the first time. This type of styling is perfect for couples looking for a perfectly pretty Pinteresty look. But…for the last few months many of my clients and colleagues have found ourselves asking…What are we designers and soon to be married couples to do? Where can we go in a sea of raw edged silk ribbon, forests of bouquet greens and calligraphy to find personal, unique and more defined inspiration to add to our existing celebration style?
